He said he wasn't going to refer me so I cried. 2 months later the letter arrived in the post so he clearly caved in when I left. Love using that girl card ;)

That's awesome!! It was such a big thing for her, she's so brave to get over it like that. Very mature!

Yep Works everytime!! ;) What is the adult criteria you need to meet? the pump really does make life easier but its hard work to start with.
The day she got it a 14 year old girl was doing the training at the same time so she acted really brave like the older girl even though i no she wanted to cry she did very well and inserted the cannula herself in her tummy !! I couldnt believe it x

NICE criteria say:

Hba1c of over 8 - mine was 6.9 say check but I was unwell in the lead up so doc thinks that pushed it up

Or No hypo awareness

BUT ABCD recommend if:

Trying for baby - I'm not but I will be eventually. Getting married next year so I would like to be settled on pump by pregnancy.

Insulin sensitivity - I DO have this. 2u basal a day is a joke

Serious fear of hypos - I don't day to day, but I do fear them in exercise. Had a "lo" reading on Saturday which I believed was due to a morning run. I'll lean on that quite heavily.

Suffer from dawn phenomenon - doesn't count for me

There are a few other I don't remember, mostly because they are definitely not ones I meet!

Not that I'm condoning milking the system at all but if you don't meet the NICE criteria then crying is always a winner!!

Where there's a will there's a way. Kicking up a fuss has helped this far haha

I do meet some of the ABCD recommendations so I'm hoping I can prove my point and if the funding is there I'll get. If not..... Well at least I have MDI and I CAN control it. Just about!

Couldnt trying for a baby really push it ?like you said your not yet but they dont need to know that and obviously you would want very good control for that which takes time to do with the pump so best you get it now and wow you really are sensitive to insulin chloe was on 10 and shes 9 !

Yeah it's my main arguing point! I've said we want to try as soon as we're married..... That's a stretch but they don't know that lol because my hba1c is within the recommended range for pregnancy they still might not go for it, but I have a lot of hypos so maybe they will.

Impossible to 2nd guess what they'll think I suppose!
