We need re-programming! lol

That certainly is an interesting read, cheers for the link! I agree with what you say, they obviously don't understand computers ha ha ha!

It is a worry lol, I don't think i'll be volunteering ha ha. I'll wait till lots and lots of people have had joy first, I'm quite happy with my needles thanks.

I have thought that stem cells will produce the answer, for some time. Whether this is it, is another question. As to comparing the procedure with re-programming computers. I don't understand computers at that level either, but I bet that simile is the journalist trying to make things easier for non-specialists to understand. I used to use cricket balls being bowled by different bowlers to illustrate "Voltage". I sure as h*** don't know anything about cricket.

can anyone reprogramme me to survive without caffeine please?

day 11 and feeling the strain of staying awake past midnight (towards the end of my work-shift)

come 7am when the boy runs in and leaps onto the bed I really feel the need to ingest substantial quantities of the stuff!!

as to mac and pc ... kinda like diesel and petrol ... they both run things ;)

ah yoda, I seek thy advice!

I was "told" that I needed to cut caffeine because it messes with the bloods (like fags, aparently, can't see the logic myself you know, but hey, gotta take SOME advice once in my life lol)

if you tell me I can still have a double espresso I will marry you!

oh for all that is great and wonderous ... ... ...

so in my total newbie-ness (and willingness to be very careful with whatever might make it worse) - what did I misunderstand?

any ideas?

and thank you!!!!!

yes indeed and for some inexplicable reason, I can detect the lack of caffeine (or more likely, the lack of staying awake-ness in the following hours) ...

I've tried the nice ground decaf at the coffee shops (kak) and the Aldi decaf (I love their regular cheap n cheerful instant blend) and Tesco's organic decaf blahblahblah - but I guess I'm missing the stayinalert boost - after living on Sugarfree Red Bull for two and a half years!!

any ideas how I got the wrong impression or am I truly a doughnut?

xx

"blood sugars swing wildly"

now whilst I know caffeine obviously has an effect (highly desirable if you ask me haha) on your body and how you feel, I was at a loss to understand the chemical effect pertaining to blood glucose balance, but I'm no scientist (just a doughnut) ...

still bemused confused and knackered hahahah!

Hi guys,

Jus backtracking a bit here, but Jem mentioned something about fags affecting blood glucose levels earlier. How does it do that? I'm an ex-smoker myself, but any ammo that might get my dearly beloved to stop stinking the house out has got to be worth knowing!!!

Anyone? :D

Well I'm not giving up my cups of tea!!!

Sue, if you still drink and get by with your feet on ;) then I think I might chance a cuppa java later and see what effect it has at hourly intervals ...

Claire, here's one link

http://whyquit.com/joel/Joel_03_21_blood_sugar.html

it's a stop smoking site and it's not aimed at diabetes, BUT it does explain what happens ... if that doesn't do it, just google "cigarettes effect on blood sugar" and see what might work :)

I'm down to about 3 fags a week now *sigh* and in conjunction with loss of caffeine ... I'm feeling a bit poo ... so defo going to try some real coffee later!

Report to follow haha!

espresso has very small cups - does that count? hehehehehe !!

thanks Sue x
