Hi, I have Osteoporosis which could be an autoimmune condition ( I was diagnosed with Coeliac disease( another auto immune condition) so that means a bone density scan and it showed Osteoporosis. So sorry to read of your multiple fractures, that sounds awful. (I did mine in August last year)
Osteoporosis often happens after the menopause, so more common in women. Has anyone suggested a bone scan? I don't know anything regarding weak bones in Type 2, but it could happen and it does happen to non diabetics and men too. How are you coping with the breaks are you managing okay ? and how did you fall, from a height or did you put your hand out as a reflex action?
Take care,
Diabetes is a known risk factor for osteoporosis. Have you been offered a bone density scan? If you are over 50, this should happen automatically (. . . well, it does in the Glasgow area.)
