Hi there I am T2 diagnosed 4 years and started novomix this time.last year. I inject 2x daily 22 unit am, 18 units pm. My weight has shot up by 2 stone since I started injecting and I am so disheartened as I was doing really well losing weight and on metformin. I have recently had covid and spent 4 days in hospital due to complications with diabetes as I wasn't eating properly and had significant vomiting and diahorrea for over 3 weeks and I still didn't lose a.pound in weight. I am nearly 20 stone now and am struggling with my knees. I also have arthritis and other health issues but the nurses told.me.it was likely the insulin causing weight gain. Has anyone experienced this? My hba1c was 113 and went down to 55 so worked really well in the beginning and I started to have hypos so the insulin was reduced but bs climbed and insulin was raised again though didn't have as great an impact this time.
I usually have 2 pieces of toast for breakfast, veg soup or salad for lunch and meat, veg and 2 baby potatoes for tea. Very.little snacks. Have been so good and lost 2 1/2 stone b4 starting insulin so can't understand how its.going on so fast! My eating habits have got better since starting insulin. Also have switched hed to gin and slimline tonic as only alcoholHi there and welcome! I hate to make it sound all about the food as it's not quite that simple but the only information missing is what do you eat on a normal day?

As I'm T1 I am cross posting a bit, but I would blame the carbs rather than the insulin. If you reduce the carbs you can reduce the insulin accordingly.
Every single time I actually look up the actual carbs and take insulin accordingly, it's always 14 or above, it's never been fine, even if sometimes I take 1-2 units extra.
