2 years ago my husband had a stroke. then a heartattach, then a triple bypass. then diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, result of blood sugar level 590! we didn't know anything was wrong till his hands and feet were "hurting" so he WAS takeing insulin 3 times a day before meals...those stopped. he should be checking blood levels. those stoped. one 24 hr shot. that stopped. he has cut down of "sweets" a lot. but still eats big meals. very low activity level. i really haven't seen him "sick" but i am seeing a huge unexplainable weight lost. in the last 7-8 months he's dropped 30 lb! maybe more. he's starting to look "different" from the weight lost. does anybody know if this is one of those times where his sugar is messed up? wouldn't he become "sick" without at least checking blood levels. does anybody have any ideas/ thanks

Hi. Why was the insulin stopped? He needs a glucose meter and to use it frequently. Unexpected weight loss with diabetes can mean Late onset T1 rather than T2 or possibly some other condition. The treatment for LADA is insulin if the blood sugar remains too high.
