Hey,
I am new to all this as I was only diagnosed on the 26th of November.
But after the last 8-9 weeks I knew I had to something.
Basically I had a high heart rate, thank god for my smart watch. So ended up in A and E, where they did various test and they found my blood sugar was high. So once my heart came back down, I was told to see my doctor and get tests. So anyway I got my first test (hba1c) and I was 81, then go I got another test test two weeks later and I was down to 69.
But as soon as I left the hospital, I looked up how to lower blood sugar and found low carb would work for me.
So I started low carb and training again back to running and lifting again. I loving the gym, I forgot how much I missed it.
anyway I have gone from 104 KG to 88KG in about 9 weeks. so chuffed with my progress. Got my next test on the 30th of December hope it is much better now.

That is a great start.

Rather than wait for 3 or 6 month testing at the surgery a lot of us buy our own meters (or get one from the gp if we are lucky). I found testing helped to sort out my max carbs a day and the max per meal, as well as showing that I react more to some foods than others even if I eat the same amount of carbs from them.

You have taken the bull by the horns. You are doing really well. Low carb is working for you as it does for so many of us. Good luck with your next test results. Let us know how you get on.
