Hi, I'm really struggling since I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (2019) I use long and fast insulin and 4 metformin a day. I have gained 4 -5 stone and gone from healthy to obese. I have tried exercise, eating better and orlastat but none of it has worked. Can anyone suggest anything I'm worried for my health. I've just gained since I've been on insulin

How are your blood sugars? Have you reduced carbs? What would you typically eat in a day? I am also Type 1, diagnosed in 2018. I haven't gained any weight; however I I low-carb in order to avoid extreme blood sugar spikes and drops.

Hey, my blood sugars are normally 90% green so between 4 and 9. It's been a bit higher recently due to being ill. I have done carb counting too but I've struggled

Hi. Have you reduced your overall carb intake? That is different from carb counting as such. Some say that when on insulin you can eat 'normally', For some of us like me that doesn't apply. I have to keep very tight control of my carbs otherwise my BS sky-rockets. It sounds like your BS control is quite good hence you may be having too many carbs causing wiehgt gain?
