Hi my name is Gill and have been diabetic (type 2) for over 16 years, I have always had a battle with my weight but over the last 17 months have lost just over 3 stone and cant neleive how much better I feel. The main achievment is to reduce my insulin intake from 44 units twice a day to 19 units twice a day :D

Well done ..... nice to hear you are making progress. Keep up the good work !

Keep losing Gill, the benifits are worth the effort. The downside is that you might have to buy a whole new wardrobe. (Not the wooden thing, but the clothy things that go in it)

Well done Gill and welcome to the forum.
What a lovely excuse to go clothes shopping and have everything look nice on you.

Hello MR: Gill, you are alone here who have this fat problem there are many people who want to cure too. so there are some tips which I want to share with you people.
Trade your power mower for a push version.
Park your car at the back of the lot.
Get off the bus a few stops earlier.
Hike the mall, being sure to hit all the levels.
Get out of the office building and enjoy walking meetings.
Sweep the drive or rake the leaves instead of using a leaf-blower. so these things are which we can do with out work out.

MikeMoon01 had some good ideas about easy forms of exercise. I do use a power mower, but I don't use the power drive. I let the engine produce the cut while I push it round a fairly large and sloping garden, and the mower is a heavy one to push! I sometimes need to shop in 2 supermarkets. I park at one and then walk to the other and then back again. When I first got into walking with a friend we walked on Portreath beach as often as we could. We would drive down to the car park next to the beach and pay a pound for parking. Now we park 1/4 of a mile away, clear of any seasonal parking restrictions, walk to the beach for our beach walk and then walk back to the car. Better for our fitness and we save a pound! I nearly bought one of those small power rotovators to help me prepare the veg patch recently. Instead, I dug it over by hand. Better workout and saved money. A friend bought a small fitting for his bicycle that goes under the rear wheel. It converts the bike into a cycle machine, and he can still use the bike on the roads when he wants. I sold my eliptical cross trainer to a friend some years ago. The only week she didn't lose weight is the week she didn't use it.
