Iv recently come across some weight loss pills called orlistat and wondered if anyone could help me on weather or not i should take them or not . Many thanks xxx

Before you use this drug may I ask you to tell the forum what your typical diet consists of?

Many forum members have shed the pounds by eating less carbs and more fatty foods. Have look through some of the messages in the low carb forum...............

Hi. Yes, can you tell us more about your typical meals. It's best to avoid thinking of a 'diet' but changed eating patterns for life. It's not easy when the supermarkets are full of junk food but low-carbing is the way to go and avoid reduced fat foods. Keep the carbs down and have enough protein and fat to make you feel full; carbs are the culprit when it comes to weight gain. I know little about weight loss pills but I believe they do mess with your system so best avoided if you can.

As UrbanRacer mentioned, why don't you share a bit more about what your current approach looks like.

Orlistat can have some very unpleasant side-effects that may be problematic if you have children to look after (constantly running to the bathroom).

When you say you've tried "Everything" what exactly have you tried and why didn't it work?

Unfortunately, there are no quick fixes when it comes to weight loss. In fact, many of the quicker approaches may help you lose weight faster, but it's generally unhealthy weight (muscle loss rather than fat).

You're a 26 year old mom of two children. Of course, that is a wonderful blessing, but I'm sure you're eager to get back to your body weight before you had kids. It can be done, and many here have done it. It's just a matter of figuring out what approach works best for you :)

good luck try recording what you are eating and try to be as active as you can be. What is your control like? Also what is your I:C ratios etc

Hi sorry for lack of information, for years i havnt been eating breakfast and often missing lunch which then lead me to binge around 3-4pm and i believe this is why the weight has piled on, i have been recording everything in a diary so this is a typical day for the past 3 weeks:

7.50am BG- 6.3 - 1 cup of coffee with skimmed milk.
8.45am - 2 slices of wholemeal toast with butter and marmite - 6 units of novo rapid
9.00am - 1 cup of tea with skimmed milk
10.10am - 20 minutes on the crosstrainer
10.45am - BG-13.7
11.35am - 1 cup of tea with s/m
12.15pm - BG-11.0 - egg and feta cheese salad with 3% fat dressing - 2 units novo rapid
3.45pm - BG-5.6 - 1 cup of tea with s/m
4.15pm - 2 slices of wholemeal toast with butter - 4 units novo rapid
7.15pm - BG-9.8 - 100g cous cous with mixed veg in soy sauce - 6 units novo rapid
11.00pm - BG-14.7 - 2 units novo rapid and 26 units lantus
1.25am - BG-2.6

Orlistat has some horrid side affects. I will put it as my GP did last week 'Chances are, you fart & sh*t yourself'. It isnt actually poo though, it is fat and by god it STINKS!

It seems to me that there is an awfull lot of grains in your food both the toasts and the couscous. How about all the other many kinds of Greens And Meat And proteins besides cheese ? My mother used to say that when we want pigs to get fat we feed them grains.

You seem to be eating quite close together and was there a blood test before exercise? More protein will keep you fuller.
