Let's say you get a pancreas transplant will that fix someones diabetes, assuming its compatible and stuff? Yes I know diabetes is not just a pancreatic problem, it could be the liver or kidneys. Assume we replace a new one of the organs which is causing problem in the person. Would that person no longer need insulin?

A pancreas transplant is a major operation and requires powerful anti-rejection drugs for life.

I think you're confused about what diabetes is. I suggest you speak about your concerns with a doctor, or a member of your family if you feel happier doing that.

Via a local diabetes group I attend, I know two people who have had pancreatic transplants, and the implications are absolutely huge.

For both of those ladies, they no longer have T1, but the regime of anti-rejection medication does take its toll, and whilst there's no let up in the management if T1, there can be no relaxation or break from the rigid anti-rejection drugs. The implications are just too great.

Diabetes is a very complex condition.
