Hi,
Everyone's rates will most likely vary over the days or depending on activities i would imagine. For me I run patterns on my medtronic pump so on a normal day my basals start off at the middle of the night at 0.65 then when I wake up they change to 0.2 then at about 10am the basal changes to 0.3 for the day(theres a few more changes but don't want to go on - I think you see what I mean :) ).
If i'm ill though they go up about 100%.

are you very active in the day? could explain you struggling to keep your sugars up? you might need to lower your basal over certain hours like what I have to do.
Hope it helps

Jo

My basals when first started pumping in Aug were all set at 0.44. They are all different now. I used to go really high within an hour of getting up, so these are now set at 1.10, 0.85 and 0.95 for the three hours before getting up. When I walk my dogs in the afternoons I was going low, so these are now set at 0.40 for three hours before walking dogs. In the evenings when I am less active, my levels are vary about 0.69's.

I was advised never to alter ALL my basals, and if I was high or low in a set pattern over a few days then to amend my basals three hours prior and up to the hour of it occuring.

Everybodys needs are going to be different according to what activities you do and yor metabolism and what you eat.

I discovered over the Christmas period run up that if I eat more than my basals will actually need to increase too, as well as my bolus's, but everybody is different. You have to find the right basals for you. If you have increased your basals by 0.2 and you are then having to fight off lows, try changing them by 0.1 or by 0.1 every other hour.......

Also, have you fasted and monitored your levels? Are you changing the basals before your highs/lows?
