This is what often happens to me if I choose higher carb meals. So for me it's much easier to mostly stick to fewer carbs and an according lower insulin dose.I do carb count, the problem seems to be if I take enough insulin to counter the carbs then it just seems to carry on and I go hypo. If I lower the insulin then I go high. I just seem incapable of having a stable bg. I have had all of the tests and I am still producing insulin so it seems my problem is insulin resistance which is much harder to sort as the reaction to insulin is not linear.
HiAnybody help me and explain what’s going on with my BG.
For lunch I had a banana sandwich (two large wholemeal slices of homemade bread with a large banana, followed by an apple and a satsuma. Took 7 units of Trurapi at 13.15. BG went up to 11.8 at 14.30. Went for a walk at 15.15 with BG at 10.8. Got back went in the shower and at 16.00 my alarm is going off and I’m at 3.2, I’ve gone from 10.8 down to 3.2 in forty five minutes.
I also take 5 units of levemir about 9pm every night.
My blood glucose is like a roller coaster and never seems stable.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
@Kevrey hi im type 2 with one insulin a.m so might not be savy. But if I ate a banana , an apple and satsuma my readings go up about 7 - 9 on my finger monitor. i can only manage 1 smaĺ wholemeal slice. I gather that 1s can eat more carbs than ŧype 2s . But yes readings can drop that far from high to hypo in a short time especially after exercise.Anybody help me and explain what’s going on with my BG.
