I have consistently had a reading of between 5and 7 in the mornings, but suddenly it has shot up to 14.3, 15.2, 16.7 over the last 3 days. No difference to my eating, what would cause this ?
Infection, illness, stress there are many factors but just because you haven't changed your diet doesn't mean it can't be the cause, say for instance you've been eating some carbs that you tolerated before, many find their tolerances change over time and they can no longer tolerate what they used to xx

Most likely what @kaylz91 suggested. There's also the possibility that you are slow onset T1 (LADA) and your insulin production has finally dropped to a level where your body isn't producing enough to cope with your carb intake.
