My great aunties didn’t know anything about low carb high fibre low fat blah blah blah ! They had everything fried in LARD double cream in mash potatoes etc etc , and all fivE of them lived into their late 80s and 90s , I think diets are all about balance and moderation only my humble opinion , are we too clean these days , don’t see weans these days picking up mud and putting dirty fingers in mouth without a quick wet wipe ! Anyways I digress don’t care how any E numbers are in them all ith8nk about when I eat them is I need sugar and they seem to hit the spot
I believe the question was whats wrong with the yellow ones in the context of what the OP had read the only difference as fat as I can see is in the E numbers I had a couple of great aunts also they did not live quite so long as yours due to diabetic complications but did live long enough to lose a limb or two.
As far as Jelly babies are concerned you can
scoff as much as you like it is entirely up to you.
Edit to add it was the blue smaries that got banned.
"The distinctive blue Smartie, dropped amid concerns over artificial additives nearly three years ago, is to make a comeback, it was revealed today. Nestle, which manufactures Smarties, reformulated the ingredients of the multi-coloured sugar-coated chocolate sweets to rid them of artificial colours and flavours."
this dated 2008
But then there's this
"
In 2006, Nestlé decided to remove artificial coloring from their sweets. The problem was that, even though they found a way to replicate and produce all the other colors by using natural alternatives, blue was proven to be more than a challenge.
In fact, it took them three years but they eventually found a way to extract the blue coloring. The color comes from a seaweed called Spirulina. Due to this solution, blue Smarties are back and just like the rest of the range, free of artificial colors and flavors."
So who knows.
