What a complete waste of time

Carrots, parsnips, beans and pulses. People who don't get to the point!
So just seen the DN nurse and what a complete waste of time that was. Apparently my HBA1 is excellent, might be the fact I am on a diet and have been for the last 12 weeks. I am still meant to take the Glicizade, well your guess is as good as mine, so I am taking myself off it! So what are they trying to shove at me Ramparil and statins - I don't think so!! Feet I have numbness in three toes on one foot and two on the other - but that appears to be fine as well. My tiredness, thirst, temper swings and the fact I passed out, all dismissed could be something else. Do I need to monitor no NICE guidlines etc, no it is just too expensive. Am I eating carbs and starch - pasta, potatoes and rice - no I have not for 12 weeks and I will not be just because some nurse says I should.

So do I have Diabetes Type 2 - well I really don't think so - I think I am just unlucky to have fitted into some protocol somewhere and I now have this label! One, which I want taken off my medical record immediately as I don't it to effect my insurance. Anyone know if I can ask for this?

So as far as I am now concerned I DO NOT HAVE DIABETES TYPE 2, which is cause for celebration with a salad!

If you HAD T2 you HAVE T2, it's not curable at present.
If there was any doubt about your having it, request an appointment with a specialist. Then if you don't you will know for sure.
I agree that if you don't need medication , it's a waste to take it, but isn't Ramipril for blood pressure? Are you sure you don't need it? Have you measured?
and Statins have protective action for your micro blood vessels, so if they don't make you feel unwell, you might as well take them.
Have you a good supply of strips?
If you take your treatment into your own hands, you MUST keep checking for safety. and should you get high BG AND ketones in urine( ketostix are cheap at the pharmacy) Get to A&E.

I don't measure was "diagnosed" two weeks ago. So do not know what it is or meant to be, and as NHS don't seem to think I warrant a meter then fine, I won't waste my time. Nurse said they will test again in 3 months - I don't think so!

As far blood pressure mine is 130/90, well within limits so I am not about to take something for that. As for statins, the nurse went on about lipids good and bad or something, but if my HBA1 is "excellent" then I am sure this is fine, I have put myself on a strict diet for the last 12 weeks anyway and am eating not dairy apart from skimmed milk in my tea so that would be down anyway in all likely hood. As for urine testing etc, sorry you have lost me.

This diagnosis, if you can call it that is wrong, I just was unlucky and ticked a box at the time of blood tests and so fitted the criteria for my GP to meet targets and can draw extra funding, same reason they are trying to give me Ramparil and statins. And I am just not the kind of person who will roll over and accept this. So I will now be asking for Diabetes label to be removed from my record - I just do not have this. My symptons, in all honesty are probably stress. So good news all round for me.

What blood pressure readings mean
Less than 120 over 80 (120/80): Your blood pressure reading is ideal and healthy. Follow a healthy lifestyle to keep it at this level.

Between 120 over 80 and 140 over 90 (120/80-140/90): You have a normal blood pressure reading but it is a little higher than it should be, and you should try to lower it. Make healthy changes to your lifestyle.

140 over 90 (140/90) or higher (over a number of weeks): You may have high blood pressure (hypertension). Change your lifestyle - see your doctor or nurse and take any medicines they may give you.

The reason why people with normal blood pressure readings should lower it is that the higher your blood pressure, the higher your risk of health problems. For example, a blood pressure level of 135 over 85 (135/85) may be “normal” but someone with this reading is twice as likely to have a heart attack or stroke as someone with a reading of 115 over 75 (115/75).

Hope that helps.
Ken.

You may care to think again!

Ramipril has kidney protective benefits as well as the BP lowering. If it makes you cough an ARB is an alternative, with your BP you would probably only need a low dose.

I'm less gung ho about statins mainly because you can improve your lipids majorly with diet, but you need to see the full breakdown of lipids rather than just the total to see whether or not they would be beneficial.

Type 2 is NOT curable, but it IS controllable. By the time you get diagnosed you may have been suffering for many years. You will always have the genes, but by doing something like this

you can learn how not to express them.

hi there, i have had all the rubbish that docs who are supposed to know what they are doing. my advice to you is keep fit watch your diet and research research research! ask questions they hate the fact that you actually know what you are talking about. i have had many arguments with consultants and because i have done the research thay cannot argue with you, i have had one who actually agreed with me in the end :P
my blood pressure was up and they wanted to put me on meds and i refused saying if i lost a few pound it might improve, i lost just three pounds and now my blood pressure is normal no meds. listen to your gut instincts. otherwise they will walk all over you. good luck.
p.xx
