What are the side effects of metformin

Decrease in Vitamin B12 levels. This is listed as a 1 in 10,000 risk but my levels plummeted rapidly from high end of normal to very low end of normal within 3 months of taking Metformin. I supplement, eat plenty of eggs etc but still have trouble maintaining anything but a low level.
A decrease in vitamin B12 means that the feet suffer
Nutrition experts recommend three eggs per week

Or it can protect against neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, depending which bit of research you read!:

Recent research shows that any benefit of metformin for alzheimers is short lived. See https://www.diabetes.co.uk/news/201...mpairment-as-previously-thought-97546744.html

Long term metformin increases the risk of alzheimers and parkinsons. If you do a google search of metformin brain fog or metformin cognitive impairment you will see lots of evidence that metformin does affect memory. Having glucose spikes from eating high carb foods can result in cognitive impairment caused by high levels of insulin. However, if you have a low carb diet then you don't need metformin to reduce insulin levels.
