Type 2 What Do I Do Now?

Hello
Dana here in Sydney.
My good problem: I seem to be now able to get thru the day with 30units of lantus and 500mg of metformin

My doctor said not to take my novo rapid if I didn't need it and as my pre meal reading are coming in around 6.0-7.5, I'm not taking it. Quite frankly I'm a bit scared. As I've never been this good that I could drop my fast acting insulin. Though if I ate cakes or lollies again I'd be back on it. My sanctity as a recovering diabetic is very shaky to sag the least. Do you have any advice? I'm type2

I think you should be measuring your post meal BG level before deciding whether or not to inject ??

Hi. Yes, your 2 hour post-meal blood sugar reading should be your guide not the pre-meal reading. If it is typically above 8.5 then the rapid insulin is needed just before meals and based on the carb content. The 30 units of Lantus is fairly high and implies you might need the rapid as well? What is your weight/BMI? Do you have a low-carb diet?
