Alot.
So recently I've been following an adapted version of the Paleo Diet.

I've gone from having numbers in the teens (bad carb counting)

To single digits (4,5,6's) with no fast acting insulin or 12 units of long lasting at night.

My ketones are 0.2 (last reading on Sunday)

I've lost weight, More alert, sleeping better and generally pretty fantastic. First time since being informed of my type 1 status two years ago.

Anyone any similar experience?
Are my readings a fluke?

Or have I just got the hang of it.

Opinions from carb lovers and carb haters would be interesting to read.

From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere!

So your have been type 1 for 2 years but getting 4, 5 and 6s with no insulin.........?

Cutting carbs definitely helps the management of blood sugar a lot easier, sometimes effortless when you compare it with a high carb diet.....

Are your readings a fluke? maybe not........but your insulin needs are constantly changing so don't expect them to last forever...:)....just always be ready to adapt...

Hi Broa87

You can find that a Low-carb or Paleo dietcan give you excellent results for ever. But bare in mind that you need to spend time reading up on how it can/will affect your diabetes. eg as your body adapts to using fat as fuel (instead of carbs) you may need to take insulin with meals that are very low carb but high fat/protein.
You may also find that you start feeling dehydrated and need to drink a LOT more water. Sodium levels can also drop (use more salt)
if using Ketone testing strips testing in the darkest purple range all the time is usually a sign of dehydration -- the urine is too concentrated. You need to drink more water to dilute it, and keep the kidneys flushed.

Read up on Ketosis.

This can be normal in the honeymoon period of a low carb diet (although i bet Broa87 is still taking Basal insulin)
