Hi I have a SD Codefree reader and i just done my blood levels for the 1st time this week , the reading just says Hi . any ideas ?
thank you Robert

OK a few questions?

1. How long ago did you eat?
2. Did you do a retest?
3. Do you feel really ill?

A reading of Hi means the reading was over 30 (really need it to be under 8) and this can be really dangerous. Please drink lots of water. If the reading persists as Hi then you will need to go to see your doctor very soon (actually you probably should do so on Monday) or even A&E this weekend. How long have you been diagnosed?

hi
welcome to the forum.

agree with @andcol

a reading of HI on a meter is above the meter's ability to give a level and is above 33
which is dangerous..

Hi. It means your bgl reading is higher than the display will show. Not sure what value is the upper limit on the SD but most meters give up at 33+ Don't want to worry you but I hope it was a faulty reading, have you repeated and got the same? I used to get this before I got my bgl under control.

You will need to test against a calibration solution from the Manufacturer to make sure the meter is reading properly.

Edit: i agree that if it persists then seek A&E asap. A chemist might be open tomorrow and some can do the test using their meter to compare,

Ok thanks , I will take the steps required . I've been as high as 28.6 and over 27 many times I've just took my tabs , hope it settles down , thanks again

I would like to say that the meter is just welcoming you as a new user.

However, as others have said, it means the reading is off the scale.

However, as others have said, it means the reading is off the scale.

Could be simply that the reader is broken, has a bad battery or the like.
It could also be because you're actually with an off-the-scale glucose level, or you're testing the wrong way.
Have you cleaned your hands with not-scented marseille soap? This is the deluxe version I use http://www.maison-du-savon-de-marse...ube-300g-72-huile-vegetale-3700601504019.html or the el-cheapo version http://www.soledetersivo.it/prodotti/sole-bucato-a-mano/sole-marsiglia.

I think it's better to talk to your GP or chemist and test with a known good meter, and in case ask for a lab testing on fasting glucose.

@Robnobcob Hi and wecome to the forum. I wonder do you have test solution for your meter if so it is a simple matter to check that the meter is functioning properly. If not do you have access to another meter.

If neither is the case then I do not think it safe to assume an erroneous reading Hi means out side of the meters range on the high side of that range and could be a serious situation to be in so I would recommend that you seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Could you go to the drs and as for a finger prick test to be done to compare it? or chemists often do them too.

You shold really seek medical attention at those levels...
