Ignorant people, diabetes!
Let me start by saying this thread is not a discussion about which diet you feel is the best for diabetics, you've made your choice and I'm truly happy for you.

Regardless of which diet you've chosen to make work for you, we've ALL made sacrifices and there are many threads about the foods we miss. What I'm interested in is what foods don't you miss?

For me it's rice, I've always hated the stuff, I'm glad I've given it up :)

I don't miss bread. For that matter, I don't miss wheat at all except for occasionally wishing I could have crackers to put my Vegemite on - I probably miss the Vegemite more than anything I used to spread it on.
Don't miss other grains - occasionally eat rice and then wonder why I bothered, especially when I see how long my BG stays elevated afterwards.
Don't really miss legumes - if I did, I'd eat them, but so far so good. I definitely don't miss the "windy" effects.
It surprises me sometimes how few "cravings" I've had since going Primal/LCHF - even my previous downfall foods like ice cream and milk chocolate (especially Turkish Delight).
The one thing I'd like to be able to eat more of without a huge spike is mangoes and other tropical fruit, but even then I don't get mad cravings for or obsess about them.
My general health and digestion issues are so much better since changing my diet that I can't see any reason to go back to the bad old days.

I don't miss meat

Potatoes! I've never liked them, except when pregnant and had cravings for mashed potato doused in salad cream. Yuk!

Never been keen on pasta either so I can happily avoid both these.

Always enjoyed bread. Hot buttered toast with Marmite was a staple if unwell but haven't missed bread at all since going LCHF. Nor have I been unwell.

I'm with you semiphonic. Definitely rice. Certain forms of pasta too, glad to get rid of the pasta bake type of meal, but would've liked to have kept pizza on the menu

I never had a sweet tooth so when I realised I shouldn't eat cakes or biscuits it was a short shoulder shrug and a heyho. I never eat bread now and I don't miss it except for wondering how to change to something that is not a sandwich.

Thinking about it I don't think I miss anything. I have changed to my new lifestyle and I like it as it is now. No sugar, no flour, no ultra processed food, some potato and rice very rarely. Suits me so far.

Snap! When I was told that my first thought was "it's going to be easy". Ha ha.

I have never liked savoury rice or pasta, so nothing to miss there. (I DO miss rice pudding though) I don't miss bread or spuds because I still eat them in small quantities. I don't miss ready meals because I've never eaten one unless you count those boil in a bag things that were popular once. I don't miss low fat spreads because I eat butter again. I'm another lucky one that hasn't had any cravings since starting this diet, but maybe it is slightly easier for those that don't have a sweet tooth?

I've never been fond of rice or pasta, always thought they were tasteless, so no hardship not having them. Luckily I can manage a slice of bread still, (bog standard cheap white stuff) but these days I tend to have it fried as part of a fry up (yay).

But what I really miss is a portion of bread & butter pudding with rice pudding. (odd combo I know!)

Perhaps I may try a portion at Christmas or birthday.

But on the whole I would rather see nice low bg figures than eat the way I used to.

Smartie xx

Cake, never did care much for it anyway.

I don't miss rice or pasta at all (even though Mrs Sanguine did the best lasagne), nor breakfast cereal. Bread sometimes when I pass the bakery counter, but I can handle that. Potatoes in general, although the odd roastie might call to me. I don't miss anything sweet apart from apple crumble, but a small portion of that is still doable with crumble based on nuts and with cream rather than custard.

The more people are posting, the more foods I'm adding to my list too. Its surprising really the amount of carbs I used to eat and now don't miss in the least. Can't say I even really enjoy the odd "cheat" roast potatoes much anymore. At the start of changing my diet, I used to do the occasional sweet treat baking with almond flour, but now don't even bother with that.

I certainly dont miss cakes or biscuits or sweets. Ive never been interested even before being diagnosed as far as i can remember, but I would bite your hand off for a packet of salted macademia nuts - now you're talking !

Why don't you eat macadamia nuts? They're excellent nuts - great fat profile and very low in carbs.
