HI all just had for me and unexpected and record 21.5 ,had bolused correctly so was very startled to see this then realized its weekend and no one available diabetes wise so what do we do for info ?
I did add loads more insulin and its dropping but its a worry where that came from

Have you changed your insulin pen/cartridge recently?
It may be a dodgy one or losing potency if it is coming to the end.
If I can think of no other reason for a high (e,g. I do not feel I’ll and I have tested negative for covid), I replace my insulin.

However, I also test a lot. A high makes me insulin resistant so I need more to recover and it works slower so I may end up over bolusing.

Hi @borderter, best thing to do is ring 111 if you're in the UK.
I agree with @In Response, dodgy insulin is the most likely cause aside from any illness/stress/hormones/bad nights sleep etc etc.
Make sure you have some hypo treatment handy as you may drop hard and fast

It's always a good idea to wash your hands and do a repeat blood test if you get a number that's way out from what you were expecting. Apologies if you did this. Also, are you able to check for ketones?

It's happened to me a quite a few times, when I try to compensate for a hypo and eat too much. But then, it goes down gradually, with the addition of glyclazide and diet.

Update on this ,I have what looks like fibromyalgia symptoms and awaiting results of bloods so even if I was almost pain free at the time my glucose knew something was wrong ,have been fighting highs ever since
