The current power brokers currently holding the purse strings couldn't care less about the majority of the public, only the money they can broker for themselves.

That's the bottom line in all the debate currently going on!

I know exactly what you are saying. Very often I feel tempted to believe that 'we are winning'. Then I remind myself that in this narrow little world we may seem to be in the majority - but actually, we're not! We may be the 'enlightened ones' - we may know the truth ( I know I do) but we're a million miles from mainstream thinking, we haven't even stopped the juggernaut that's going in the wrong direction!

I love the rant, never come across this blogger before, might have to follow her, it's bang on the money for me. I often do wonder about the medical profession. I have a lovely, kind, considerate doctor. As doctor's go, he's brilliant. But he seems to have no curiosity. Never does he say, "You are looking brilliant - what is the secret to your improved health?" From starting investigations for A-fib, screamingly high blood pressure, pre-diabetic, on PPIs daily to fit and well - I'm sure I'd be curious. He must have noticed! Weird! Jamrox understands what goes on, the conspiracy theorists are not worth reading. My endocrinologist was amazed that I lost 10+ kgs and 6" around my waist, and I dropped my Hb1ac back to a level of 5 years previously. He must see 50 diabetics a week. His main response was...` I don`t know what you are doing, but keep on doing it!` No further questions! But, as always, it was a 10- minute consultation.
I do a low carb diet although I don`t count how much I eat daily, just little or no bread, potatoes, rice, pasta. I don`t count calories (*can`t be bothered) doesnt seem to matter. I now eat full fat milk, cream and all forms of meat (preferably chicken or guinea fowl) but dont obsess over it. I still eat too much of everything and drink a half bottle of wine with my evening meal. Currently I take NO medication.
Yes, Doctors do get paid for thier diabetic treatments but it was my doctor calling me in for tests that revealed my diagnosis (type 2). It is essential that you take hold of your own treatment otherwise you get `put through the system`.
I try and eat only organic or grass fed. I appreciate not everyone can afford this but the more you can the better your health (I believe)

I am currently reading The Big Fat Surprise by Nina Teicholz and it is absolutely amazing. I seem to be highlighting a shocking fact about the misrepresentation of research findings, hidden findings, directly contradictory findings with every turn of the page!
This is another book that I recommend highly to those feeling nervous about adding saturated fat back into the diet. The evidence for its demonisation is not there and has never been there. It is amazing how the skewed use of research money and confirmation bias in key players has got us to where we are today. Sadly, it is still ongoing, but we can educate ourselves.

Another book on coverups and political machinations is Denise Minger's "Death by Food Pyramid" - well worth reading for the history of how government interference in our diets started.

Yes, I echo that, Denise Minger is amazing, read that a few years ago. These 'analytical thinkers' no matter what their background, are shining light into 'dark places'. The world of scientific research, since the 1960s, has been more about maintaining the status quo and not challenging dogma, than science. It's a great shame, opportunities lost and billions of dollars wasted.
