Hello.i have been pediabetic for a while now but really not sure because I'm under two doctors and they disagree, one says I'm diabetic the other says no. My readings have been 9+ two hours after eating. I would like to know what anyone else's has been say over a few weeks? Have to have another blood test next month? Bit worried about it

Have you had a n HbA1c test? If so what did it come back with?

When you get 9+ at 2 hours what had you eaten. When I eat carbs and fat together my peak is at just before 2 hours not the normal 45/60 mins so not going to come down at 2 hours.

Do you go 12+ at all. I would be more worried about this.

BTW 9+ is not a good level for any period of time so you really need to look at what you are eating and manage those levels.

Had last HbA1c six months ago it was 41. My blood glocose yesterday after a jacket potato was 12 one hour later it was 8.5 still a bit high for a prediabetic I think.

so 12 on a meter with a margin of error could have you either side. All of your numbers put you close to being on the wrong side but not quite categorically there. So that is good news. There is tome to correct it before it slips further. An HbA1c of 41 is normal not even PreD BTW

What is your management processes at the moment to ensure you keep in the normal? Do you need advice from members to see if we can help you. I think it is time you gave up potato as it is obviously not good for you.

Hi. I really know what I should eat and sometimes I do keep to LC but then my willpower goes. I haven't got a weight problem so it's not because of that, my problem is the drugs I have to take had a kidney transplant ten years ago. Have to take them for life. One the most dangerous things for me to loose my kidney is Diabetes so you would think that would be a good reason to follow diet. Another hard thing is I'm wheat, gluten and lactose intolerant. And don't like eggs. So what is left for me to eat? I do need help please.

Hi @Lilliepop

I am totally with you on this as the types of food you say you are intolerant to, I am.

But I do eat eggs, loads of them.
I also eat what makes me feel well and that is usually meat, other types of protein, salad veg. You can eat other veg but not the starchy vegetables like spuds or more than a little carrots, Swede, turnips.
You need to think to yourself, if I eat what makes me feel awful, then ill eat the carbs.
If on the other hand, you want to feel really good, full of energy and your health improves greatly, then only you have that option.
It is down to you!

I had to make that decision, during my hypo hell, it was the best decision of my life, other than the wife!
If I want to look after myself, my wife, and be fitter and healthier than I've been for decades. I had to make that important decision.
I had my family, friends, and my endocrinologist to support me. He saved my life, I was on the slippery slope, he told me, that keeping control of my blood glucose levels was the most important thing for my future life.
With the knowledge I gained on this forum, by eating to my meter and getting my life back. I am now working full time and a really busy life, going to be around, to see my grandkids hopefully have my great grandkids!

You find out what you can eat by experimenting on things you like and what you know, doesn't make you ill.

I'm on fast till eleven, then a full English breakfast before work.
Then a small piece of fruit, mid afternoon, then ham salad for tea.
Then my nightly treat of full fat Greek yogurt, with strawberries and 85% chocolate.

The low carb forum is full of ideas and recipes, you need to learn how to look after you first before you can't look after anyone else.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your reply and I know what your saying is very good advise. I'm going to try my hardest not to give in to things I shouldn't eat. I feel so much better not eating first thing in the morning.
