I always have bought watches with metal bands, I do not like idea of a piece of pig skin for a strap to hold a watch on.
You have a point, @Riva_Roxaban. Of course, there are versions of the Smart watch with silicone wrist bands - as bad as metal as far as I'm concerned. They both bring me out in a rash. I don't wear anything on my wrist these days, as a result.

Just seen those starlings getting back into the hole in the eaves again. They can't possibly be nesting in there at this time of year so they must have just decided to move in.

It's november again, so the season for rhyming and crafting with the use of lots of cardboard and tape has started!

This year my Sinterklaassurprise (Dutch word, pronounce sur-pree-suh, means a crafted funny and or meaningful way to pack a gift) will involve a labyrinth. My victim will have to crawl through it on hands and knees in pitch dark to find her gift. :)

On hands and knees because I can't make high walls. Making them only 20 cm high means the path can be narrower because you won't bump them over with a fat behind. And that's why I'll darken the attic room, no use finding your way through a labyrinth if you can see the lay-out!

The dark labyrinth symbolises how you need to make life choices all the time without being able to see what choice will give you the best outcome.
My friend has recently switched jobs, and she had a very hard time choosing which of the two offered jobs to choose, and she still isn't certain she's made the right choice.

I started today, very happy with the design, let's hope it'll work out just as well as it is in my head!

You start from where I made the picture, the treasure room is at the top left. :)

Thank heaven for the search facility on this forum as my memory is definitely shot to pieces.

Doing a fridge audit the other day and I came across a bag of large cubes of a brown mix which I thought was lc chocolate icecream I had made a couple of months ago.
I've been eating the odd cube as a treat after after meal, thinking it was flavoured with sour cherry.
But today I came across plum stone in it.
Still didn't twig, until looking at my CMT recipes I saw one for keto plum curd!
Then it all came flooding back to a memory of being given a large bag of damsons , and a post I'd done

What I have been eating frozen thinking its cherry chocolate ice cream is in fact curd, which should be defrosted then used as a spread !!!
No wonder its tastes fruity and fizzes with sweeteners.

I will try defrosting some and using it as intended, but may have inadvertently hit on a new dessert.
Trouble is I haven't been testing bg and it is very concentrated.
Testing and tasting will recommence later this week. I must try and find the macros!!!
Officially an idiot, repeating to myself "I must label things properly"

BTW, I've found the cherry chocolate icecream frozen in lolly moulds, it's very nice!

I thawed a big tub of something just two days ago, thinking I knew what it was and wanting to eat it.
Still no idea what it is but it doesn't taste like something I want to eat.

It's still in my fridge because of a vague and completely unfounded idea that I'll suddenly feel like eating it tomorrow.

But you're right, no use in just leaving it there until it goes off, and I'm pretty sure the dogs will love it so I'll surprise them with a yummy breakfast tomorrow!
I'll make sure to tell them about their favourite auntie in the UK as well, you'll have a couple of fans for sure with your good ideas!

I think I want the recipe!
About 120-150g each of ripe avocado, coconut milk and double cream, blitzed with 20g (or to taste) of sweetner, 40g cocoa powder. Teaspoon vanilla extract.
Then add 100g frozen raspberries or cherries, blitz again.
Instant ice cream, or freeze in portions. If you use fresh fruit, it will need freezing, or you can eat it as a mousse type thing.

What does it look like?
Frozen it looked like a brown block, thawed it looks like brown stuff with lumps of meat in it.

I'm guessing it's a very basic stewed meat and onion thing and I intended to use it as a base for, erm, something, I guess.
No idea what though.

I have been struggling to sleep. Then struggling to wake. Steroid meds are the pits. Though I can happily report that this time, they didn’t increase my appetite. Quite the opposite.

Oh and I would like to add my condolences to Antje77 . Loss of een huisdier is a painful experience.

Loss of een huisdier is a painful experience.
That took me three takes to see what was odd about this sentence, I was simply reading the meaning. It is more personal in my own language though. <3
And yes, it hurts a lot. Not nearly the same as losing my best friend Hidde, the dog I shared my life with much closer than I have with any other pet, and who died almost 3 years ago, but having Poes so unexpectedly die has thrown me off pretty hard as well today.
I'm still waiting for the courage to go to bed, starting to think I'll have to do so without courage.

This morning I decided to not get a new cat, I still have Efraïm.
And then I found myself looking over kittens on the internet only 3 hours later...

My friend (the wise one who told me to just buy anything appealing in the supermarket today, and who acts as my conscience in general when it comes to stupid decisions) to my surprise told me she thought it would be a very good idea for me to get a kitten. She knows my tendency to depression very well too, and kittens are quite a strong antidepressant.
I would adopt an older cat if it weren't for Efraïm, getting an adult cat to accept new kittens is much easier than introducing another adult cat.

Do you think her support of getting a new kitten has something to do with me showing her a picture of the kittens I have my eye on?
Minor detail: I didn't tell her I'm thinking of taking three, not just one...

Great idea, Antje. Those kittens are gorgeous and will most certainly take your mind off your loss. Not that the loss itself will be easier to bear, but growing kittens will take up much of your attention. And, as you say, Efraim will find it easier adjusting to kittens rather than a new, mature companion.

Cute. You must do whatever you feel is right for you, and most importantly, the creatures you already have and any potential additions.

I've contacted the seller to ask how old they are and if it was possible for me to visit to have a look at them. (I mainly want to see how they are socialising them, there's very little info in the advertisement.)
They're 4 weeks old now so they will be ready to leave their mother right around Sinterklaas, who knows, I might get the best Sinterklaas present from myself this year!
I don't think they'll need a surprise package, kittens are more than surprising enough all by themselves, but I do need someone to write me a Sinterklaas-poem to go with them. Pretty sure my wise friend will be happy to oblige!

And yes, kittens are very good for helping to deal with loss. Losing my old dog was the reason I adopted my last two kittens, Efraïm and Vlieg, and it made life a little easier and happier.

Seeing Efraïm and Vlieg grow up together made me decide I wanted any future kitten to have a friend to grow up with, it's so much better for them!
And then Vlieg died from getting hit by a car, just when he started to venture outside the garden. And Efraïm had a hard time adjusting to not having his playmate around anymore.
Which is why I'm now thinking of adopting 3.

I'm going to make it real scary, with hanging threads hitting your face in the dark, a wet cloth on the floor, and one of those toys making horrible sounds when you touch it! More ideas welcome.
The walls will be made out of wood, much easier to saw old floor pieces (my fathers old living room floor, it has been used for countless project in the past 8 years) than to cut cardboard to size and trying to tape it to the floor. :)

I cut the wood to size today, under supervision from my other (now only) cat. :joyful:

All 3, definitely and without hesitation.
(Speaking as someone who only lasted a week after losing our last cat 18 years ago. We had 2 black kittens within the week, still with us today ) I might be biased but I think they will be good for you, and you for them

I would be quite scared if a cat was in there with me. :arghh::eek: Allergic to them.

I've checked the circle settings and you have full access. I can see all of yours fine. I'll go through it bit by bit later.
