I would definitely worry over such a dog in a household of people I love!
Such a dog would be out in a second if it was me, sounds like a dangerous situation, and not only for Em.

They seem to be prepared to give him a chance to adjust. But Em will need to be well warned to be careful with him. I like dogs, but I wouldn't take a chance on him. But, as a family, they are daft about their dogs. I'll have to keep warning Alistair to watch Hugo's behaviour, especially over food. If he istoy or food aggressive, surely he will need to go - and, sadly, not to be rehomed.

DIL an Em brought him in for a visit and he really isn't a dog who enjoys being petted. He's also not used to wearing a collar, so he is not used to walking on a lead.

Had a serious conversation with Alistair this evening about Hugo. Alistair thinks he is just finding his way around a whole new environment. He is improving marginally already. All the same I waarned hi9m not to let Em or any of the other children try to take anything away from him, even in play, and not to leave things around that he might decide are his toys which the children might try to take away from him. He is actually quite a big dog, even though he has little short legs, but it would be nothing for him to reach and harm a child should he be so inclined. He's pretty hefty and pretty strong. Al says he is clearly not socialised but is getting to like the idea of being stroked and petted.

I was just wondering if there was any news of @Riva_Roxaban ?
It's a couple of weeks now since we last heard
I do have the occasional single malt, but it feels weird drinking alone :)
His last message on the forum was his PM to me, asking me to inform the people on this thread of his move to the hospice almost 3 weeks ago. He hasn't posted since.

edit: The link leads to the post where I relayed his message. Stupid forum shows a preview of the wrong post, sorry.

I’ve been wondering about @Riva_Roxaban too. @MrsA2 Consider yourself to have a Canadian single malt drinking partner...currently joining you from Texas.

Arrived at the vet this morning just before 9 for neutering and chipping, and got a phonecall at 11 that I could pick them up, they were fully awake already. :)
I was told they'd likely wouldn't want to eat much today but when we got home they attacked their food like they hadn't eaten in a week!

I just had a visit from a delightful little Pomeranian. He came and looked into our front door and just walked in when I opened it. There was nobody around when I looked outside, so he had clearly strayed from wherever he lived. I called the phone number on his collar tag but got no answer. By this time he was getting a bit anxious at his strange surroundings but I didn't want just to let him go. As luck would have it, Alistair is off work this week so I called him to ask if he knew the little fellow from his mail delivery. He did and offered to go and check with the dog's owner. A short time later Alistair arrived with a relieved owner, who had been out looking for his pet. He had just happened to drive past as Alistair left his house to go to theirs.

I've never seen such an overjoyed little dog, prancing around and leaping up in the air at seeing his owner.

Such a pretty little dog too. At first, I thought he was a long haired white cat, but no, a very sharp. fox-like face with black around his muzzle and eyes.

What a wonderful visitor @Annb , he must have brightened your day!

I don't normally go much for small dogs. They tend to be excitable and yappy but this little one was so quiet and so sweet that I really fell for him. My preferred dog has always been an Irish Wolfhound - big, strong, fast and scruffy - but I have never been in a position to have one and these days couldn't possibly cope with one. As I think I said, I couldn't even cope with one like yesterday's visitor.

But you could offer to look after your new friend once in a while for an afternoon, that would be fun!
