Thank you for your lovely encouragement @shelly262! I appreciate it more than I can say. The ryvita is the original one, it is the only one that lists just rye flour with no other ingredients except salt - all the others have some additional ingredients that are (for me) undesirable. I still eat more than I should when I have it, but less than if it was bread!Congratulations @jpscloud so pleased for you that your hba1c is heading in right direction well done you definitely a cause for celebration.
Think your slight overdo of the carbs isn't bad if it's the Ryvita - you are doing so well give yourself a big hug from me I am really proud of your achievements.
He looks so much like my boy who would do exactly the same thing! Don't bother with a new umbrella though, those claws can damage everything! But with a cat like this one, I might want to look for a new umbrella
Winner for finding a way round the rain but wanted to give a funny for the cat video - only a day would do that!Second day of getting up in the middle of the night for me, worked on the ship from 7 to 12 AM, got some groceries, fed guinea pigs, had my cleaner from 2 to 4 PM, and then had a well deserver beer in the garden, with a beer, a wonderful book, baby chickens and ducks to watch, and of course it started raining within 5 minutes after settling on the garden bench.
Not one to let my plans be ruined by a bit of rain I solved the problem and spent some two hours on that bench before cooking dinner.

There were some small holes in the umbrella, but I managed to avoid water leaking in my borrowed book.
I have no idea where the thing came from, it's been around for years. Possibly it was here already when I bought the house over 10 years ago.
But with a cat like this one, I might want to look for a new umbrella if I want to make a habit of sitting outside in the rain!

Hard to do but as you can't do anything while you are away best to try and put it mentally to one side while you get back. Hba1c may appear online in a day or two mine often appears a day or so after the other results.Feeling your trepidation @jpscloud . I had my hba1c last week and have had a text today to contact surgery for appointment. Annoyingly the hba1c results weren't online although the rest were so assume its for statins. Now neither hubby nor I can access nhs . Assume its because we are away. Very frustrating
Me too, so I try very hard not to touch it. I do seem to be managing to stay right away from starchy carbs at least, although the temptation is still there.Thank you for your lovely encouragement @shelly262! Thanks for that @shelley262, I will definitely have a look! Hope you have a lovely time in Birmingham and at the PHC conference - looking forward to hearing about it when you have time! xWhat a wet day but gave me the chance to catch up with indoor stuff and also to pack for tomorrow.
I'll be away from Forum for a few days but will take some photos of food and post a summary when back.
Tomorrow we are off to Birmingham to meet some friends from the North West one who I went to school with in Yorkshire. It's a birthday treat for her -we are going to the symphony Hall for an evening event - a screening of Amadeus and live music from the CBSO orchestra. We are eating out together at Dishoom a favourite of mine and staying overnight.
I'm heading home as early as possible on Saturday morning as I'm attending the PHC conference online on Saturday and Sunday. If needed I will listen to first conference session by Gary Taubes on Reversing Diabetes on my ear buds on the journey! I've got the app all set up ready. I can't wait to join the conference as I've attended (both in person and last year virtually )for the past five years. I find it very useful and interesting and have met some of my favourite low carb hero's and friends there. I love listening to lectures on how to improve my metabolic health and usually listen to a podcast or two every evening when at home while walking indoors or outdoors. Walking after my evening meal does work really well on my blood sugars so I tend to keep it up and much prefer listening to podcasts while walking.I
@jpscloud thought of you yesterday evening when listening to a podcast from Real Health and weight loss an interesting one this week but if you haven't found Dr Mary and Dr Lucy you may like them?
They are very upbeat but look at the struggles too....Real Health and Weight Loss Podcast

Yes. You can see it without a Facebook account. That's cats for you - and a very vocal one as well.Second day of getting up in the middle of the night for me, worked on the ship from 7 to 12 AM, got some groceries, fed guinea pigs, had my cleaner from 2 to 4 PM, and then had a well deserved beer in the garden, with a wonderful book, baby chickens and ducks to watch, and of course it started raining within 5 minutes after settling on the garden bench.

I've been wondering about podcasts. How do I get to listen to them? Do I need a mobile phone for that? What a wet day but gave me the chance to catch up with indoor stuff and also to pack for tomorrow.

A mobile is easiest, a smart phone usually already has the software.I've been wondering about podcasts. How do I get to listen to them? Do I need a mobile phone for that?
Thanks @Male1960T2. My laptop should do it then. I know, in this day and age, that not understanding about podcasts and such (like how to access stream TV and so on) is ridiculous but, that's me, I'm afraid.A mobile is easiest, a smart phone usually already has the software.
Both desktops and laptops , provided you can get online are fine too.
Her ferry was cancelled. They've moved her onto one at 7am tomorrow. She'll have an early rise to get there for check in ( and a long drive home when they dock in Oban). At this time of year the ferries are usually managing the crossings, unless they break down, of course. Fingers crossed for your niece on Friday. What work is she doing on Uist?
No reason that I can think of for cancelling the ferry. Must have broken down. Her ferry was cancelled. They've moved her onto one at 7am tomorrow. She'll have an early rise to get there for check in ( and a long drive home when they dock in Oban).
Yes, totally understandable @jpscloud and @shelley262I love how our garden birds "own" our gardens! One of my favourite pastimes is watching the bird bath when I fill it up, they just can't get enough bathing in!
Your son is very lucky to have such wonderful parents, but I totally understand the stress - caring for mum 24/7 really took it out of me. I wouldn't have had it any other way but my goodness care is tough sometimes. Thank goodness for gardens!
