"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

That's wonderful @RosemaryJackson. Yes, it's remarkable how quickly one's palate changes. I bet that champagne went down a treat!

Yoghurt and seeds for breakfast
A "little" shopping (4 hours = 1 top and a pair shoes for hubby)
Had a snack pot of cheese and almonds
D: In a Portuguese/Madeiran restaurant, garlic prawns, then a beef skewer with salad. Large red wine.
So good and only 5 minutes walk, we've booked in again for Friday

B: 1 cold sausage and some feta cheese
Another castle, another 10,000 steps, mostly up.
L: feta cheese, sausage, almonds
4pm a nut bar
D: an absolute carb fest. Ready meal risotto ( added broccoli and cheese). A large ice cream. Probably 100g carbs in one go, all washed down with a white wine

What are these dropped scones, otherwise known as scotch pancakes, of which you speak? @Annb.
They sound very bad for diabetics!
Not necessarily bad for diabetics. Especially those who can calculate carb content and use insulin accordingly.

For those like me , T2 nor on insulin, her is a recipe I use

B: yoghurt with seeds
Very cold today (shock after a very warm day yesterday) so we headed out on bus hoping the sun would break through. Walked a lot to keep warm 15,000 steps around a bay then up the headland at the end. Beautiful, but grey.
L: crab shack (but disappointing menu most was fried and little local fish). Hubby had fish tacos I had sea bream with veg. White wine with soda.
Cold bus ride back.
Lc hot choclate when home again.
Nothing else eaten yet. Might be ham and cheese later. Do have wine in hand.

They are not good for diabetics but, once in a while, I can get away with it - as long as I take a suitable dose of insulin. I don't use sugar in them, which is different to the ones you can buy in shops, so the carb is all flour. I keep trying to find a low carb replacement for the flour but none really seem to work very well. About 5oz flour makes about 10 pancakes.

B: yoghurt with seeds
L: a little cheese and a few nuts
Another headland walk, just 12,000 level steps
Mid afternoon: an icecream
D: garlic prawns, lamb skewer, salad, wine

Cats love to climb into cupboards, cubby-holes and yes, even a dishwasher @MrsA2.
Empty cardboard boxes are also a major attraction @MrsA2

When you order a carefully-chosen present for your cat(s), they are often more fascinated by the cardboard box it arrived in, than the actual gift!

Cats like empty cardboard boxes because they provide a secure place to curl up and rest. They offer warmth and protection from other pets and kittens enjoy playing in them.

Yes, our own cats always loved a box. These 2 "temporary ones" don’t seem too. We gave them one and no interest at all... however anything to do with water or food and they go crazy.

Last day on the ship, our sailing days have been long enough this week to not have posted on the forum much, especially because after sailing it's usually an evening meal with the guests, sometimes followed with drinks.

Yesterday it was a lot of drinks and a lot of fun, resulting in some interesting gifts.
Group got half a bottle of Dutch salty licorice liqueur from me. I got:
1: a promise to get me a salted herring for breakfast this morning, which I'd completely forgotten about so the herring was a very nice surprise after my morning swim.
2: a promise to send me a T-shirt from the small brewery part of the group is connected to, it has the name of the brewery and the text "Kein bier für Nazi's" (no beer for nazis), which will be printed on their next batch of bottles as well.
The beer is very good so I'm very happy to advertise with this shirt.
3: a promise for a tattoo to be made the next day (today) while sailing. By someone who has tattood 3 people so far, including herself.
We were both wise enough to know not to do it right away and with alcohol so we reassessed this morning.
It still seemed a good idea so now I'm the proud owner of a very cute spider on my left foot!

I didn't take pictures of my meals, which were mostly easily adapted to relatively easy to deal with.
So instead you'll get a picture of my hilariously nervous tattoo artist who never expected I'd still be willing the next day, and of course of my happy little spider.
(The thing in her nose is part of her pirate party costume on thursday, she liked the moustache so she's worn it since.

Our penultimate day before returning home tomorrow so mostly just having a relaxed lunch then a trip to the cinema to see Grease on the big screen.
Food was chicken tacos (left most of the tortillas) then ham and cheese and some cocoa dusted almonds from M and S.
Somehow fitted in 13000 steps. Although we live in the country, city walking is so much easier to do - its quicker than the car and doesn't need mud proof boots and weather proof Clothes. Who knew?

Trouble free journey home.
Stopped for breakfast on the way. 2 poached eggs with grilled chilli halloumi on the side.
An Aperol Spritz and a glass of champagne (both free so hard to refuse)
D: at home, roasted chicken with carrot and broccoli. 1 sq hm lc brownie with coffee ice cream. A Baileys.

= a good day for lc food. A bad day for drinks.

Back to routine tomorrow
