A bootslaper is someone who sleeps on a boat, a boat-sleeper! :hilarious:

The article is about the people we have on board, they are walking the elfstedentocht (eleven-cities-tour) which is a skating event that almost never takes place for lack of ice.

But this famous tour can be walked too of course, and that's what those people are doing. :)

Now that you explain it, the meaning of bootslapper makes sense. Boat (boot) and sleeper (slapper). Simples.

Edit: I can't spell slaper

Are you back yet @Antje77? I want to hear all about your sailing week please
I'm back, and it was a good week but also quite hard with a lovely but not very easy to work with skipper.
I definitely overtaxed myself and I'm only now starting to work my way back to my normal mental self.
Which is ok, I now know I can do 5 days with skipper Peter (but preferably 3 or 4), and I also know I shouldn't do more than 2 days with skipper Yvonne.

Got some nice pictures for you though!

My cleaner giving me a ride to the ship, and my dog always insisting to ride on the shoulders of the driver, even if I'm in the passenger seat:

A sunny early morning on the IJsselmeer with no wind, very rare. :)

My skipper's black dog Mayday and my own Foelie and Wolf got along pretty well!

Typical Frisian surroundings!

And a hilarious surprise upon returning!
Neighbour-in-the-garden had painted one of the roosters during my absence with paint for sheep. :hilarious:
No worries, he's still popular with the ladies, and crows just as loud as before.

And he's a very lucky rooster anyway, we got him from someone for soup, because their neighbours complained, and then neighbour-in-the-garden decided he liked his looks so he was allowed to stay to befriend the hens. :)

He had a bit of a hard time with our other roosters for a couple of days (I think we have 4 now) but that settled quickly and now he's living the best life a rooster could wish for, pink or not.

What lovely tales and pictures! I am so envious, but maybe not of being painted pink.
Just as well though the dogs got along, imagine if they didn't in such a confined space!
How was the food?

Nothing wrong with pink!
Although we drunkenly painted one of the neighbours hair pink some years back with the same type of spray paint for sheep. It led to him having to sleep in the barn for a couple of nights, his wife didn't approve! :hilarious:

Good thing I brought my own emergency rations!

What an interesting life you have! I envy!

I managed to convince myself to go to the gym again today!
Last week I knew I wouldn't be up to my sunday morning group so I went with a different lesson on wednesday afternoon. (My subscription is a group lesson once a week, doesn't matter which one.) Turned out I like the wednesday lesson better, and it seems that an afternoon lesson is much easier diabetes wise as well. :)

So today my main motivation was that if I'd go today I wouldn't have to go to the sunday lesson I like less. Maybe not as good a motivation as actually liking to go to the gym, but it works a charm and that's what counts! :hilarious:

I treated myself to a perfect cooling off after the lesson too, both last week and this week.
Found a nice spot for a short and lazy swim in my sweaty gym clothes on my way back home, which feels very good after a training indoors.
I think there are swallows nestling under the bridge, from the water you can see them fly back and forth all the time, and today I shared the water with a pair of grebes(?) who didn't even dive when I swam close, and I also swam past a nesting coot. :joyful:
Lots of water lilies too.

Getting in and out of the water is a bit slippery and slidey but that's ok, if I do it wrong I'll land softly in water and reeds, little chance of injuring more than my dignity. :)

Oh @Zhnyaka , that is so wonderful, congratulations to both you and the kitten!
And it's so pretty too! And already eating, instead of hiding behind the couch, what a brave little kitten!

I remember you wanted to adopt a cat for a long time but doubted yourself because you weren't that good at taking care of your plant. Don't worry, a kitten is much easier, they're very good at letting you know what they need. :joyful:

Please keep sharing pictures. Does he/she have a name already?

in fact, after eating, the cat hid behind my washing machine and didn't want to come out, then climbed into the hole for repair the sewer pipes, so it was difficult to get it, but by the end of the day everything doesn't seem so bad, the cat doesn't quite understand what the tray is for, so it just rolls in the filler as in soil :hilarious:

It was a really difficult decision, because I have never kept a cat in an apartment, but my parents have 5 cats who are used to walking on the street and are semi-wild, this is the child of one of them.

Please keep sharing pictures. Does he/she have a name already?

I'm not really sure about the cat's gender, but I think it's a girl. If so, then I will call her Musya

Ah, yes, sounds very much like you have a cat!

I don't think it matters much to the cat if its name is gender appropriate, so you can call it Musya even if it's a boy. :)

Considering that I am often called the male version of my name, it would be symbolic :D But I think I'll give the cat a name according to gender (probably Murzik). While I call her either "my child" or "fur a-ss" (please don't block this for swearing, I don't want to offend anyone!)

This is her at my parents' house. In appearance, it is too noticeable that the it is a village mongrel cat

How is your little cat doing @Zhnyaka ?

We have turkeys hatching!
Two have already hatched and are making the cutest little turkey noises (while the mums are hissing at us to stay away).
We'll count again tomorrow, and have our fingers crossed that no dogs or cats manage to steal any.

The scars are part of the deal with kittens, just keep your glucose meter on hand and take advantage of it every time she draws blood, it saves you a finger prick!

:hilarious: good idea! Especially because often when I sit down to eat, she decides either to play with me or to eat my sofa/tablecloth/wallpaper and during the time I give her, my insulin has time to act

I am so used to animals in a private house that I have no idea what to do with them in an apartment
