Oh you poor thing. Stay strong
hmmm, I was thinking maybe its the fat from the bacon but then you get just as much fat from butter and cream. For breakfast I had 2 eggs scrambled in a non stick pan no fat no milk etc and i had them with some rocket salad and some olives. An hour after my sugars were 12.5 so took the correction dose my pump calculated for me. For lunch i had 50g of tuna with cucumber and feta and olive salad and sugars shot up to 15.8 an hour after as I didnt know what insulin to take, I have corrected it with the amount the pump has instructed me to do.I need insulin just because I got out of bed (about 3 units) but I don't eat eggs for breakfast so couldn't say.
If I have scrambled eggs for lunch, which I make with cream and butter, then I will need 2 units novorapid but delayed by a couple of hours. If I eat fried eggs and bacon for lunch then I don't need to bolus. I'm starting to wonder if it's a dairy issue for me.
How much insulin did you take for these mealsBf peanut butter on toast
Lunch big bowl of salad with qualls egg and cheese
Dinner stir fried beef with black pepper and veg
2 sq 99% choc
Pre lunch and dinner BG mid 5s so happy again
Breakfast: Greek yoghurt with fresh blackberries, blueberries, strawberries and raspberries
Lunch: Celery sticks spread with cream cheese, a few cherry tomatoes on the vine
Supper: Home-made zucchini frittata with green salad and tomatoes
Sugar free strawberry jelly with double cream
Lizzie, are you eating enough fat? Do you use anything like myfitnesspal to keep a record of your carbs, protein and fat intake? To begin with I worked out boluses from total carbs and 50% of protein which seemed to get me in the right ballpark. You could also count 10% of fat if it's significant.hmmm, I was thinking maybe its the fat from the bacon but then you get just as much fat from butter and cream. Hi Lizzie - it's like counting carb content at 100% but you count the protein at 50%Hi Robert.
I used to use fitness pal but not used it for a year as got bored of it, but I'll start it again if you think it would help.
I am so stupid with this 50% of protein, I haven't a clue what you mean, sorry.
From 3am to 12pm I have the ratio of 1 unit of insulin per 15g carbs, and from 12pm till 3am I have the bog standard ratio of 1 unit of insulin for 10g of carbs, thank god I undderstand that as freaked out I had to do calculations all day when I am proper maths phobic!
Can u explain what the boluses from total carbs and 50% of protein means to a simpleton lol!
Thanks again Lizzie
How much insulin did you take for these meals
Thanks
Lizzie
