What if more medication is taken by error?

I had taken by error the pill after lunch that was actualy due in the evening after dinner (1000/50 Janumet) . I was supposed to take 500mg Metformin after lunch . So, with this over doze, I had total 2x1000/50 Janumet in 3 hours gap since morning when I took the morning doze of Janumet . I was hasitant what could be the effect of such over doze . So, checked BS just one hour after lunch and the number was 8.4 . I actually thought it would be less because of double doze of medicine, but looks like it did not influance the number .
