I never actually carry something sugary incase I get A hypo. What’s something small I can carry, I don’t want to carry cokes in my bag all the time. I also don’t know exactly how much grams sugar to eat when I’m low. Sometimes I binge until the low blood sugar feeling goes away which can take a few minutes. I’m stopping that but which snack can actually treat the hypo successfully? Like any sweets or anything. Idk, something I can buy from a supermarket perhaps

Hello @ariaxo

You should always carry glucose like glucotabs every where including bedside, treating a hypo with anything other than something like this will encourage binging so treating a hypo with medication like glucotabs is vital, you wouldn’t binge on glucotabs but a bag of jelly babies...

@ariaxo I always use jelly babies. 3 jelly babies = 15g carb. Eat them, wait 15 mins, retest and repeat if necessary

I use any kind of sweets, depending on my current preference. (sour worms are residing in my bag at the moment but when that one is finished I'll likely change to liquorice again)
Like @Juicyj said, if you're prone to overdoing the hypo treatment when using stuff you like, those nasty glucotabs may be a better choice though!
Anything sugary works, it's up to preference.

I found that for me the hypo feeling lasts longer than the actual low blood sugar, so using your approach I'd go way high from treating the hypo.
In general it's adviced to treat the hypo with a more or less set amount of sugar, wait 15 minutes and then test again to see if it was enough. If you try this and you find you're already on the high side after those 15 or 20 minutes you'll know you can use a bit less for your next hypo, until you find what amount of sugar gets you back up without overshooting the mark too much.
