What is a safe T2 blood glucose level?

See the International Diabetes Federation recommend pre prandial of 4 to 7 mmol/L, and post prandial of under 8.5 mmol/L

But at how high a mmol/L before you are doing damage?

Hi. Good question. I'm not sure anyone really knows the answer as it would be difficult to have suitable trials. The general view is that you should aim for something less than perhaps 8.5 mmol max 2 hours after a meal if you can. I rarely achieve that these days. So, get it as near to the level of a non-diabetic as you reasonably can and watch cholesterol levels as the aim is to keep the blood flowing freely through the capillaries. That's why most GPs put you onto statins immediately.
