I had a blood test last week and my GP said my results were getting better,
Apparently they were 135 when first diagnosed in July and he says they are down to 70 (which he called border dangerous) So can someone tell me what normal should be.

At the moment I take Metformin and glacozide, I am small framed (size 10) and not overweight. I am really confused.

Please help

Good control for a diabetic is 6.5% which is approximately 48. Mine came back as 46 today which works out at 6.4% :D

Well done Sally

Like Sally says if you are healthy and just on tablets aim for less than 48 (6.5%) .

Read here http://medweb.bham.ac.uk/easdec/prevention/hba1c_and_retinopathy.htm

or here (see page 20 conclusions)

The IDF is the organisation that many countries take recommendations about diabetes targets from.

Control isn't an overnight thing so I wouldn't dismiss the fact that you have halved your readings from something very high to something moderate. As you learn more about your own control measures, you will do fine. I think that the greatest misconception is that you must be overweight to find this condition thrust upon your life. You may have very good control over your calorie intake and still be eating foods that cause distress and inflammation to your immune system. Everything I have read indicates that you have done well since July.... keep focusing on your self and you continue to gain ever greater control of your health and well being.... You will be fine.
