This paper goes some way to explaining why we get confused about the positives and negatives of research when it comes to food, drink. medications, supplements and lifestyle. Eggs, coffee wine, aspirin, statins etc. have all been examples of why we get confused. Some papers say that we should be including them and then we read somewhere else that they are bad for us.
Hope this helps,
Catherine.

Agreed. One problem is that when "research" agrees with the current dogma it often slips through unreviewed. For example adding cinnamon to porridge reduces your BG by some miniscule amount.

HELLO??? Not eating the porridge reduces it by a huge amount. They seem to have missed that . . .

A recent study was headlined all over the world as proving that low carb diets didn't work. When you actually look at the study, all the diets were high carb and the actual conclusion should have been

"If you eat too many carbs it doesn't much matter how much fat you eat"

Agree. I get no enjoyment from food now. Unless it is veg or pepsi I feel guilty about anything I put in to my body , veg makes me feel bloated , yoghurts are boring . Can't win...I'm moaning but..meh!

That's sad Shygirl!! Once you get into finding out about carbs and what you can eat you will find that there are a lot of things that not only you can eat but that you will enjoy.

It's a pity if you have let diabetes take away the joy of eating.
You need to be positive, do some more dietary research and get cracking on some of the recipes posted here, vegetarian or not.
There are so many interesting foods from all over the world that you can enjoy.
Curries with non carb chapatis, soups, veg mixes using unusual items.
Try a stir fry with the very hard Chinese Mushrooms, soak them for an hour then fry them in Sesame oil with green and yellow veg! Add spices and low salt soya. Eat with buttered crispbread and a glass of red!
Stop shopping in supermarkets and go to the deli or the farmers markets. Eat what is fresh and in season, not imported and tasteless.
Use you imagination and you will begin to enjoy food once again.
Above all, Stay positive.
