What is sugar diabetes?

Can someone please explain to me what sugar diabetes is?

I've heard it used in American sitcoms quite a lot and heard a song today that said, and I quote:

And if it's sweet then I'mma eat it 'til I get sugar diabetes

Is it an un-pc way of saying type 2 diabetes?

I have no idea never heard of it but if I made a guess then I would say type 2

I heard the term once whilst my wife was watching Emmerdale and this character called Sandy Thomas stated he had "The sugar diabetes" but I aint got a clue what type that refers to.

It's just really a term some people still use for Diabetes

What is Sugar Diabetes ?

.... It is a general term for a number of disorders that prevent the body from regulating its blood sugar level, which can lead to serious complications. ....
There are two common varieties of sugar diabetes, now known as:
Diabetes type 1, which accounts for 10% of cases, and the more common
Diabetes type 2. The main differences between the two types are:

• With Diabetes type 1, the body is unable to produce insulin at all, whereas with Diabetes type 2 sugar diabetes, the body produces too little insulin, or cannot use what it produces effectively.

• Diabetes type 1 sufferers usually develop symptoms of sugar diabetes in childhood, whereas those that have Diabetes type 2 do not necessarily show symptoms at all before diagnosis.

• People with Diabetes type 1 diabetes suffer from low blood sugar episodes. This only occurs with Diabetes type 2 sugar diabetes if it is being treated with insulin.

• Diabetes type 1 sugar diabetes cannot be prevented. The onset of Diabetes type 2 can be prevented or delayed by attention to diet and exercise.

Can someone please explain to me what sugar diabetes is?

I think "sugar diabetes" probably reflects the distinction between diabetes mellitus (which most people just call "diabetes"), caused by insulin problems, and diabetes insipidus, a different condition caused by a hormonal problem. The word "diabetes" means "peeing a lot". Faced with a patient whose main symptom was excessive urination, doctors in the ancient world would check whether the urine was sweet or insipid. I'm not sure whether they actually tasted the urine, but I have a dim memory or being taught they'd get the patient to pee on the ground near an ants' nest, and ants would flock to sweet urine but be indifferent to the excessively dilute urine of diabetes insipidus.

This is what they used to call diabetes here years and years ago mostly T1 because not much was known about T2 then
