What machine are you using to check your bloods

At the moment I’m using a 4sure courtesy of the NHS

I was self funding a Libre but couldn't keep it up as I couldn’t afford it any longer.

I’ve been told I won’t get a Libre because I’m type 2 on the NHS but I did point out so no funding to one if I end up on insulin then and she said I’d be referred to the hospital first and I was a bit surprised at that to be honest.

I’m looking to ask again for a Libre as my fingers are sore and I’m on new medication that causes hypos.

So for now it’s a wee machine and strips.

Very much a post code lottery. This site allows you to see the extent - it also allows you to compare individual GP practices!

Being 50 years a type 1 the wee machine is perfectly ok and such things were not available in 1975.
That said i feel your pain as the libre is magnificent but at £50 plus for a sensor its hard to self fund and hard for the NHS too.

If you are having hypos from tablets then NHS advice is needed.
Jelly babies act the fastest for me to get my levels up.

The thing is I wasn’t told anything
Just have you heard of this drug and ack we’ll just put you on it. I asked why and he said bloods to high it’s this or insulin and I don’t want to go on insulin if I can help it, but my bloods have been higher before and no mention of rybelsus just the offer of metaformin or insulin they seem to like to offer insulin a lot at my surgery.

My doc doesn’t even talk of diet and exercise in case I get offended I’m 60 so plain speaking I like thanks very much.

I know jelly babies bring it back up usually 4 or 5 does the trick.
I’ve had hypos in the past much to annoyance of my nurse who said it wasn’t possible on the drug I was taking.

My fingers are sore and over time I’ll have to increase the number on the sticky thing.
I’m also wondering if this is cost effective using a machine over the Libre really as in what’s actually cheaper.

have a look through the following nice guidelines to see if perhaps fall within any of the criteria. would put anything in writing rather than via in person/phone so hopefully end up with a written response.

for fingers being sore: are you using both sides of fingers alongside ensuring to rotate between all rather than use the couple of fingers/hands at a time? for injections insulin i was told to use likes of cocunut butter as moisturizer would help make injections a lot less sore maybe using some on hands would assist once a day or something?
