What most ppl don't know about Diabetes!

Yes Mrs Vimes it would most probably be quite effective to sneeze on some people and say it is infectious, there would most probably be quite a few that would jump back.

It is when your pancreas has been damaged due to surgery, accident, illness or have pancreas completely removed, it is harder to control than type 1, and as pancreas may have been damaged beyond repair people have a slightly higher chance of getting pancreatic cancer. Sometimes if there is time people can have islet transplant on to liver in my case my panc is shrivelled up and dead, lots of 3c also have to take replacement digestive enzymes (the panc other function).

Gosh, I've been diabetic for decades and I didn't know that!

It is fairly rare thankfully, people who have damaged their spleen often have some damage to panc, it is seen in lots of pedestrian v motorbike or bicycle

That what is a healthy diet for them ie pasta, whole meal bread, jacket spuds, low fat foods is not for us diabetics and eating full fat is, in fact, healthier

Actually what they are told is a healthy diet is actually unhealthy for everyone, the difference being their bodies can still deal with the rubbish they are eating whilst a diabetics can't.

This is subjective.

Complex carbs generally far are easier to control, especially when factoring in activity or work. Fats are good and delay absorption.

What I hate is that most people always have and in this day in age still do think that Type 1s must 'not eat sugar'. The reality obviously being we can eat whatever the hell we want assuming we have the means and the know how to adequately control our glucose.

That since the majority of obese people do not develop T2 diabetes, it can't be "caused" by obesity, there must be genes involved, and none of us are responsible for what our genes are like.
Combination of both. Risk based plus bad luck.

This sounds bizarre. It basically is Type 1. The idea that after 23 years my pancreas still has insulin producing beta cells is wrong. The main thing is your pancreas is ******** and the treatment is more or less the same. I've never heard of Type 3c until now.

Well I have to admit I had never heard of it before I had it, or that you could live with your panc being removed, it is easier to tell people you are type 1. The other thing most people don't know your panc is needed to digest fat
