Following suggestons on this forum I asked for a copy of my last blood test results before I see the Dr tomorrow.
I had already seen the DN but another DR had checked my blood test result and asked for a repeat HbA1c

I can see for myself why they asked for a repeat HbA1c test. Mine was 7.9% (NICE rcommends less than 7.5%)
Ditto why I am taking levothyroxine- my sample provided inadequate clinical data. My thyroid was killed off when I was taking amiodarone.TSH 35.68 (0.34-5.6 is what a normal reding should be)
All my cholesterol readings were great.
BUT
Not discussed with DN was my raised creatine level of 101 (recommended 53-97)
or
my Estimated GFR (globular filtration rate) of 48 which shows a moderately reduced kidney function.
Like most on the forum I am trying hard to do the correct thing to avoid complications so when I see the doctor tomorrow I will be asking why these results? and what can I do to improve them?
It may be one of the tablets I take but who knows........
It may be the thyroid problem.....
It may be that I have lifelong atrial fibrillation........
I just want to know.

Thanks the east man. I have just had a wander around both sites. I have downloaded about 23 pages to read at odd times when I am waiting for others; such as when I give lifts or sit in the Dr's waiting room.... Tomorrow's discussion will probably give me even more questions but I love a challenge. :D

Went to Drs.
9.5.11 HbA1c = 7.4%

24.10.11 = 7.9%
Dr asked for a repeat blood test.

14.11.11 = 7.5% (19 days later)

Dr was pleased with result. Type 2. 2x500 SR Metformin. No need to change/ add tablets
Thyroid/ INR in 5 weeks
Kidney function etc February

Cardio- version/ Amiodarone and non-functioning thyroid all unsettle BS and not showing a true picture of Lower Carbing approach as yet.Hopefully next one will.
Warned to keep an eye on BS levels when Levothyroxine starts to kick in over next couple of weeks.
Good job I buy my own test strips.

At the end of my appointment I was asked to come back again on Monday and talk to 4 Newbie medical students . They are going to quiz me about my medical history with particular reference to Type 2 Diabetes.
