Hi, I'm getting quite a few symptoms pointing towards diabetes....

What number should a none diabetic aim for after a 14 hour fasting, or at normal times through out the day??....

Yesterday after a fasting I was in the 7's, today after fasting I was 4.3mmol, what do you think of these numbers??

I have an appointment with gp for bloods, I think im getting a Hbc1 test so shall no more soon, thanks

Non-diabetic blood glucose guidelines:

3.5 - 5.5 before meals/fasting;
less than 8, 2 hours after meals.

Depending when you got your 7, it may have been a liver dump of glucose.

No-one on here is qualified to diagnose you; the best thing is to get your blood tests and wait for your doctor's diagnosis. An HbA1c test, which gives an average of your blood glucose over the last 3 months, is a better diagnostic test than a finger-prick.

Obviously you are worried that you may be diabetic - what are the symptoms that have given you this idea? The main thing is not to get stressed - that can put your BG levels up!

Get your results from your doctor and come back to let us know what they are. If you are diabetic or pre-diabetic, you'll find lots of help on here from friendly people, most of whom are living full and active lives with all types of the condition, and many of whom, including me, think it is the best thing that ever happened to them! :D :wink:

Thanks viv good info, symptoms I'm getting are, sore eyes, circulation problems, needing to pee quite a lot, bloated stomach on and off through out the day....

At the start of the year I had a HbA1c test done, I think it was January time, the result was 39, I think that is 5.7mmol, but since then I have had a few health problems so haven't been exercising much, and diet hasn't been that good, I'm 35 year old so really not that old so worrying a bit, oh my cholesterol was high to, I think it was 6.7 so there's another worry I got....

Thanks again :D

It's all handle-able, Harry - the main thing is to recognise the problem and learn how to handle it :D . Many of us have been there - in my case 10 stone of excess me :shock: :wink: :D . You can have too much of a good thing! :wink: :lol:

Come back when you've got your test results and we'll help you sort things out. :D

These readings vary so much and if they were taken by you at home with a meter neither of them would contribute towards a diagnosis. You have to have proper tests done by your doctor with approved equipment.
