My hbA1c 98 back in January
This was a shock I was 41 eighteen months early and have been consistently 41 all my life.

I had been very depressed and anxious and constantly crying or on the verge of tears since august because of lots of things happening and was given sleeping pills as I had stopped sleeping and my hair was falling out in clumps and was not in a good place.

They tested everything and found my hbA1c was 98.

The doctor said I had to be on the top dose of metformin asap so 1 week at 500, next week 1000 then up to 2000

Was retested early Feb and was 72 (was only taking 1 pill at the time of the second test) the doctor called in March to tell me he wanted me to test again late April (to been full 4 months since the first test) but wanted me to be on the highest dose of metformin

I said no, I was testing daily and was alway in the 6-8 range, had taken a private test as well which had me at 57, which was the number he agreed to reconsider and look back at what caused my rise rather than anything else
So we haggled and agreed I would take 1000 a day

I kept forgetting the 2nd pill so ended up at 500 by default as my finger test showed 4.5-7.5 no matter what I ate and was only high if I tested less than 2 hours

Then as an experiment dropped my final pill

I average 6.3 a day for my finger test
Had my recent hbA1c test (mid may) it was 41, a bit later than April because I had another blood test and they went through my veins and i was put off having a test done

Meeting the nurse this week to talk about what this means as I only have high levels when I’m upset or agitate

I’m not sure what to ask or what to discuss, and I don’t want to take the pills as it limits any support I can have in the future if I don’t need then now
I can honestly eat anything with very little reaction, a while pizza and 2 hours later I’m below 7.8 and less than 2 higher than before I ate
Last night ate a whole pot of Ben and Jerrys and was 6.1 two hours later

would you consider counselling to help you with your issues. I’ve been on a mild antidepressant since my husband was diagnosed with cancer and died 2 years ago. It’s stopped me crying lots, and helps me be positive about situations and I don’t think it’s addictive, I’ve been on and off them a few years.
Any BG test above 5mmol/l is dangerous for you kidneys, eyes and immune system. A lot of members are on a low carb regime and occasionally have ‘treats’ to help them deal with their type 2

I’m good now, started exercising and got some sleep
I thought 5mmol was good and above 11.1 was a concern my app always has me in the green
