What should a diabetes tattoo say?

I have been looking at diabetic tattoos today (because I would really like one) & although this one would, obviously, not be very useful as a medical alert, I really love the sentiment of it - it's a little symbol that means "I am greater than my highs and lows". I think it's great, but have never seen it before, but I think that Jonas brother what is diabetic has one, so I would think they are pretty widespread lol.

Mine would be "they took my chocolate I took their souls" or "my diabetic Kung Fu is strong"

I would think the you should get one that is as close too a standard medic alert bracelet as possible. I would stick with 'Type 1 Diabetic' and make it as clear as possible and in the commonly accepted location for medic alert tags (neck/wrist/ankle) so that when a paramedic finds you and checks your wrists they clearly see the tattoo.

Unless you just want a cool tattoo, then it really doesn't matter as long as it looks cool.
 
Mine is also on the inside of my wrist. It says Diabetic . My artist was concerned if I needed help and someone looked at my wrist, they might think it was just art. He added a red caduceus within a red block star thing and a shield underneath. I have quite a bit of time in ER over the last 4 years and I can honestly say, the only thing they look at is the word.

If it says too much or is too small, EMTs are working as fast as they can. They only have time to glance.

I would think that would be one of the first things they see. Hopefully you reply no, but have you had to use it?

Fortunately, no. I think the only time medical people have seen it is when I've shown them, or when I was in hospital to have my appendix removed.
