I am new to this forum but was diagnosed with T2 Diabetes aproximately 3 years ago. I was put on Metformin but it gave me terrible stomach ache. 2 years down the line I finally got the medication changed to the slow release Metformin only to experience the same problem as soon as I increased the dosage to 2 a day. 1 of the GP's at the practice suggested I try 1 a day for a month and then try and increase to 2. I have been taking 2 a day for 5 or 6 days and although I don't feel great it's not so bad as before. My biggest problem is my sugar levels. I went to see the nurse yesterday and persuaded her to give me a glucose monitor just to help me see what is happening. (My GP told me to diet, eat plenty of Carbs! and come back in 3 months even though my blood test showed a reading of 14.)
I started using the glucose tester yesterday and the reading was 13.1 in the morning and 14.7 2 hours after my evening meal. I do some form of exercise at the gym most mornings, but still today my readings are between 10.2 and 13.6. I had a small bowl of porridge for breakfast and a bowl of homemade soup for lunch. What am I doing wrong?
