Type 2 What to eat when ill

I've recently been quite ill, a restaurant fed me something I was intolerant to despite telling them about it and I spent a while recovering from that but went to a comic con anyway over the weekend and managed to pick up a fluey type bug with some diarrhoea and lots of sneezing...which is fun as a combo

I've noticed my blood sugars which are normally 5s when resting are currently sat around 9s and I'm not sure what to do with that. Do I eat enough to feel full and not worry too much about it spiking to 10.6 when testing 2 hours later? Do I try eating less and hope to keep the levels lower but feel a little hungry all the time? If it was just the one day it would be less of an issue but speaking to people the expectation is I will be feeling like this for at least a week and I'm not going to be able to eat next to nothing for that long

Thanks, mostly the food is raising it by less that 2mmol so you're right, I'll just keep going as normal and deal with the illness as best I can. I know it's common for the body to release extra glucose into the blood stream when you're ill, I just had never noticed it go quite so high at fasting levels before.

Turns out a contact from the comic con has tested positive for covid so I've also booked a test...I put a mask on when I was at work because I became symptomatic whilst already out and since have taken time off work. I hate that most places make people feel they must come in when sick due to their policies for illness.
