Hi there,
I just to ask if anyone might know what this was that happened yesterday..my long term partner has diabetes, insulin dependant..i went out for a few messages leaving him with his 13 year old daughter . He was fine when I left. When I got back, his daughter had given glucogel. He had taken unwell. He said he had gone for a sleep, and woken up making a loud noise and feeling very odd. He shouted on his daughter and a asked for the glucogel. He said when he woke he felt his heart beating out of his chest then it was like it stopped..He said he thought he was away, his vision went slightly blurred. I took him to a and e and they did tests etc and ruled out a heart attack. They said it was palpitations and that he just to keep an eye on it. He has diabetes since he was 17 and is now 43 and says he's not a hypo that before. I think he's worried. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? We have been going through quite a stressful time recently and he not been eating right and not sleeping enough, not been generally keeping very well, recently having a cold/ flu-ish thing, cough etc.
Thanks all.

Agreed sounds like a nasty hypo. Good job someone was around to get the glucogel. Hope all is well now? If he's not too well can affect the sugars in a lot of ways. Keep an eye on him for a few days.

That's what I thought, that it was bad hypo. He got a fright I think and I hope it's hit home that you can't forget about looking after your health. He said he remembers it clearly and I think he's still frightened. Poor thing.

Sounds really scary. The worst I've ever had was years ago and I'd had a fit during the night as I'd over bolused with my tea. Ended up in A+E for the night - Joy. Luckily though I'm a lot tighter controlled so I recognise a hypo the minute I get dizzy or weak. Lets hope it was just a one time event for him!
