I didn’t expect the retail park car park to be packed to the gills with cars at 8:30 am this Monday morning. I went to get cat food and some tins of meat for myself. I wasn’t prepared for swathes of empty shelves. Any toilet rolls were already flying out of the shop doors... There is cat food in abundance and so I got Popeye’s dried food and wet food, but I forgot the cat litter. So then I was looking for cans of chicken in white sauce, and beef in gravy, for me. I wash the gravy and sauce and such off because of the diabetes (too much sugar and carbs in that) but I can get away with that meat itself, as long as I don’t eat it every day. Absolutely no cans of beef chunks in gravy, nor chicken in white sauce in any of the places I tried. I only have the tiniest table top freezer which you can get a dozen packets of fish fingers in, and little else. I am not a lover of frozen foods and so it suited me. But this now means I don’t have a back up food supply, like most of my friends who have a chest freezer in the garage, as well as an upright freezer in the kitchen. I only have a table top fridge, as equally as tiny. But that was okay initially because I bought fresh foods most days. But in the current ‘crisis’, there is a possibility this shopping daily may not be an option. I couldn’t find the coffee I like either...those shelves are empty. So came home coffeeless...but I did find some apple cider vinegar so looks like I might have to drink that.... I was over tired by this time, so came home. I have just realised tins of spam were in abundance on the shelves. I should have got some, but didn’t. I was too tired to think clearly on that. On couch now with a cuppa ... zzzzzz....,
