From what I read on the subject damage to the cardio vascular system starts to occur at an hba1c of c.37 and very slowly increases into and through the pre-diabetic range. The damage is really underway in the 50 and 60's and woe betide any over 100. Weight is a variable issue and I received a lot of protests from my two daughters and wife when I got down to thirteen stone @1.96. On very low carb. Now I am c.15 stone and still look thin, I didn't look fat at 17.5 stone max. The weight change made little difference to my hba1c, but stopping refined carbs stopped the hypers at 1hr and hypos at 2 hours plus after first bite. My eldest was worried I was getting an eating disorder at 13stone. And I recognise the validity of these things getting obsessional. People can die when their weight is too low for their body structure. I was on another forum where a guy had remarkable low trigs and high hdl which he mentioned a lot. Some years younger than me.....well he went and died suddenly. Do I believe all that gurus say?...not on your nelly! They bury and forget the ones they mislead. D.
