Before Covid, there was a lack in hygiene measures in many things @Krystyna23040 My beef was shopping baskets and trolleys that looked as though they had gathered 10 years or more of gunge and germs. When Covid and lockdowns began, many of these appeared to get a deep cleaning by the shops. But gradually it is reverting back to pre-Covid times. And even the so called sanitising stations as you enter the shops are now devoid of any sanitiser, or they are empty. And the shopping baskets (especially plastic ones) now have the thick gunge on again. Shopping trolleys have small children in them (possibly wee themselves), and even pets as dogs in them. Oh it's okay I have put a blanket in they say (where has that blanket been and which side was the dog sitting on it last? Before Covid and lockdowns, I put a sturdy shopping bag (which gets a spray when I get home ready for next time) in the trolley and all my goods went in that. I still do that and I will continue to do that. I have my own hand sanitizer in my pocket and a couple of sanitizer wipes should I need them. I will always do this. I do have a compromised immune system anyway, so I am always mindful. You are definitely not being paranoid. We have had it easy the last so many years where a lot of stuff has been provided for instead of bringing our own equipment. The onus should not be on you to clean and sterilise everything. Your job does not pay you enough for that. It is up to them to bring their own mats, and they can sterilise them or not when they get back home. A certain amount of cleaning and hygiene is good where there are a lot of people congregating.
