With regards to Christmas gifts- our family agreed some years ago that we would no longer buy for adults and just send something for the children to open on Christmas day. Maybe you could suggest this to those adults you usually buy for. I'm sure  given the situation at the moment ,that people would understand and maybe even be relieved.
