One of the ironies of populism and Trump is that those kind of attitudes are leveraged by two types of elite. The super rich such as Trump, Musk and whoever else lurked in the background with their dark money and the elite with all the right credentials such as J D Vance and Johnson. They see those attitudes in the "liberal elite" and how they both annoy and do nothing for the vast majority then play on that. Millions of men and women who feel as though they are drowning are cynically dangled non existent straws to clutch. Every time the "libtards" fall into the elephant trap of seeing those let down voters as stupids which spectacularly backfires to their amazement. There is also plenty of hate, racism, misogyny, homophobia and general desire to create mayhem which people don't acknowledge, brushed off as Trump/Boris being themselves just saying what we all think - no we don't.
