What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Happy new year!
Hope everyone is having a great first day of 2026
Well, I really don’t deserve this….i got my HBA1C results, 5.9%, or 41 ….very, very unexpected, I had such a bad time over the past months. I feel very lucky and am full on into proper eating. I did get a wee scare though as my hemoglobin was slightly low and platelets slightly high….need to up the red meat.
Morning glucose was 6.6
Did go to the gym, a long walk and then upper body weights. Got a few ingredients for butter chicken which I’ll cook tomorrow (actually the chicken needs to marinate over night). It’s steak tonight.

Congratulations on HBA1C. Food sounds delicious

My fasting glucose this morning according to libre is five point nine

Yet another 8.5 this morning. Not impressed. Going to be a slippy walk later today as we had overnight snow for the first time this winter, not heavy but only seemed to have settled on the hard ground, particularly pavements and roads. Temperature still below freezing so looking forward to the icy challenges ahead.

5.5 today, that was Dexcom, no finger prick.
Dang, sent hubby to emergency this morning, or rather he sent himself. He is still suffering incredible body pain and it’s only getting worse. The hyperthyroid diagnosis may be correct but even his endocrinologist suggested seeing a real doctor (she was phone only) and that’s just not an easy thing here…we have no walk in clinics and we lost our family doctor last February. So emergency it is. I think it’s best, at least they can test his blood and maybe scan him. He was an incredibly healthy guy four months ago, this is very scary. I only wish he’d done it months ago but he was very stubborn.
He left about half an hour ago and I haven’t heard from him….just need to know he’s checked in and waiting. Could be a very long day.
So, no gym for me. I’ll be walking the dog here shortly, I intend to take her on a very long walk but will stay out of the forest as the coyotes are everywhere these days. Have my chicken marinating for the butter chicken tonight, which I’ll serve over roasted cauliflower.
Hubby is now in the waiting room…as he’s not bleeding or in imminent danger he has been sent to waiting room b

fingerprick 5.8 libre 4.6 ketone 1.8
Upped fluid intake a little more. Yesterdays foods soup for lunch & cauliflower cheese for dinner. was nice having family members that missed new years dinner round last night they polished off the left over steak pie & mash. I been left with half of large 10" lowish carb cheesecake for myself grabbing a slice later to go with soup for evening meal.

Off to mainland in a bit going for swim depending on how long in pool might end up checking out if anything interesting in the sales after.

Sorry to hear about your hubby @Bcgirl fingers crossed he gets on ok. I put off medical issues for years worry of what if's/buts etc took a long time before finally came round to trying to accept help. Hopefully he can get a confirmed diagnosis then the right treatment. Wishing him a swift recovery. It is important to look after yourself too mind. Hopefully your nice long walk helped take mind off things. best wishes.

5.3 this morning.
I have had family staying the past few days. I think I am getting old as its felt really hard work this year. They were only up for 5 days, 5 days of loving chaos. Plenty of noise, plenty of talk, plenty of drink, far too much chocolate. Kids had a great time, we decided to take them to Beamish Hall, Forest of Light show one day, then 10 of us (Both sons, wives and offspring) went to the Pantomime the next. I don't normally do pantomimes, but it was ok. Sleeping Beauty. Excellent acting and really good reviews There were also family visits to arrange for meet ups etc. All in all quite a busy schedule for us to work through. Family travelled back yesterday and fortunately missed the snow. Its been snowing all morning here, probably around 4 inches - starting to melt now. I'm so glad they travelled home yesterday with clear roads. We sent a pic of the snow this morning and the kids were groaning because they had missed it but from my perspective, I am pleased they did. The family live 6 hrs plus drive away and I worry from the moment they set out until I relax after the text I receive to let me know they have arrived safely. If it had been snowing as well, my anxiety levels would have been so much the greater. Now they have gone, its so quiet and peaceful and a bit empty. Anyways, house is colder with less people in it, so I'm just going to "chill" until the snow goes away. Definitely don't think I will be out with the sledge anytime soon. Brr... ;)

Hope everyone had a great New Year Celebration and now the New Year beckons. Good things coming for us all I hope.
Thank you all for being there supporting. :)

6.8 today. I’m having a heck of a time with my levels. All day yesterday I could not get below 6.5. This is very, very unusual. Scary too. I ate very well, carbs were just the cauliflower….should not have caused any problems. So today I’m fasting, and I’m mad. I’m hungry….but I’ll wait until dinner time. I’m hoping the levels come down. I walked for 45 min at the gym and did weights, when I left my glucose was over 7. It’s one pm here now, no food since 5pm last night and my levels are 6.3. More water….
Hubby spent 6 hours at the hospital yesterday ….after X-rays and a huge amount of bloodwork they still don’t know why he is in so much pain. Now referred to a rheumatologist and hopefully well hear something soon. It’s the strangest thing….
